GCCIS Student Spotlight: Mike Ey

Mike Ey

Mike Ey, a graduate student in the Department of Interactive Games and Media, is being recognized in the GCCIS Student Spotlight as a teaching assistant (TA) and for his work in game development.

Mike has demonstrated a terrific acuity for game development. One project in particular is the "Banjo" (i.e., Oh-No! Banjo), which debuted at the Game Developers Conference this year and received several press articles: http://www.ist.rit.edu/~dis/alternativecontrollers.html. While participating in the first run of the seminar on alternative game interfaces, Mike tapped into his skills in making arcade games to lead a team in building the world's first "Banjo Hero" style game controller! Mike performed a tremendous amount of technical work, and the "Banjo" continues to be a hit when demoed to prospective students, parents, and companies. Mike's work has greatly increased the visibility of IGM, GCCIS, and RIT. Keep up the great work Mike!

Mike is a 2008 GCCIS graduate having earned his B.S. degree in Computer Science. Mike is from Hopewell, N.J.
