Message from the Dean
Welcome to RIT’s B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences (GCCIS) the newest and one of the largest colleges at RIT.
As the founding dean of this great College, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome you and to tell you about our outstanding successes. We became RIT's eighth college in July 2001, thanks to the generous gift of Mr. B. Thomas Golisano, philanthropist and entrepreneur. I am proud to tell you that in these few years, we have worked very hard and have accomplished a great deal. We have gained national recognition as a premiere computing college and remain dedicated to becoming THE computing school of choice. We are passionate about preparing our students for promising and fulfilling careers.
We are committed to our students' success; not only while we are entrusted with their education but also once they become our ambassadors in the real world. We are focused on preparing our students to become highly skilled—and sought after—computing professionals, and truly there is no better testimony that says we've done our job and have done it well than celebrating the success of our graduates. We also continue to refine and enhance our academic portfolio to best meet not only students' interests but the needs of an ever-evolving industry. To do so, we must remain ahead of the curve—our world-class faculty, dedicated staff and innovative degree options help us get to the very top! It goes without saying, that in order for any leader to realize success at every level of an organization, we must surround ourselves with only the best and the brightest.
Great things continue to happen here at the Golisano College as we work hard to become the computing school of choice! Please take a moment to review our Annual Report and observe some highlights and achievements by our entire community—students, faculty, staff and friends.
I invite you to take some time and read about some of the great things we've accomplished and download my presentation that I gave to parents and students. As always, I welcome your comments and look forward to hearing from you.
Cordially yours,
Jorge L. Díaz-Herrera, Ph.D.
