Partnerships with Industry

The Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences is one of the most comprehensive computing college in the nation.  We offer 18 degrees at the bachelor's through Ph.D. as well as a wide-array of minors and Advanced Certificates -- all in computing! In addition, the college's Laboratory for Applied Computing serves as a multidisciplinary resource which enables students and faculty to partner with industry to explore and develop innovating applications of emerging information technologies. Together, these resources allow our students to attain a broadly based, unique education to prepare them for the ever-changing demands of the 21st century, and the college will provide a highly qualified workforce for the industries of tomorrow.

To maintain and enhance the college's distinctive position requires dynamic and visionary leadership, expert and committed faculty, constant curricular innovation and your generous financial support. We ask you to join us in this - one of the most creative enterprises of the new century - the education of our next generation.

How to Give

Gifts to the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences may be in the form of cash, securities, real estate, or personal property. In addition to outright gifts, donors are encouraged to consider multi-year pledges, generally over a five-year period.

Unrestricted Giving

Unlike endowment, current operating funds are available for use in the year in which they are received. Unrestricted gifts designated to the College can be put to use immediately in support of the College’s most pressing needs. Such funds support core academic and programmatic goals as well as provide seed funds for emerging initiatives

Restricted Giving

Restricted gifts support a variety of initiatives within the College or its research centers including, but not limited to: faculty research, undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships; faculty support; and, academic program enrichment.

Endowment

An endowment is a permanent investment in the College, our students, and our faculty. The income from an endowment provides an ongoing source of funding that grows over time; as the invested principal increases, so does the annual payout. An endowed fund—most often for a scholarship, professorship or fellowship—can recognize the donor or someone the donor wishes to honor in perpetuity.

Capital Gifts

Gifts made for capital projects support construction and renovation costs associated with a particular building.

Planned Giving

Through careful planning, a donor may be able to make a sizable contribution to the College through a bequest or living trust; by designating RIT as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, IRA, or other retirement plan; or by means of a "life income gift" that can provide a donor with considerable tax savings currently as well as an income for life.
